The decision a manufacturer makes once… and that shapes the machine for years

During the warranty, everything feels under control
While an engine is under warranty, the situation seems clear: any issue is covered, there is a defined framework for intervention, and risk appears limited.
However, that sense of control often comes from the surrounding structure: monitoring, inspections and technical support.
The problem begins when that structure disappears.
The end of the warranty is not an end, but a shift in conditions
When the warranty ends, the engine itself does not change overnight. But the way it is managed does.
From that point on:
- Any failure has a direct cost impact
- The margin for error becomes smaller
- Planning becomes critical
Many engines start accumulating significant operating hours at this stage. And with that, a new phase begins, where wear becomes real rather than theoretical.
Where problems actually begin (and often go unnoticed)
Most critical failures do not occur immediately after the warranty ends. But they often start to develop during this period.
Not as obvious breakdowns, but as small deviations:
- Parameter variations
- Gradual changes in consumption
- Components operating outside optimal tolerances
- Less rigorous maintenance practices
Individually, these do not stop the machine. But over time, they build the conditions for a major failure.
The most common mistake: shifting from controlled to reactive management
Without a clear strategy, engine management often shifts from preventive to reactive.
In other words:
- Action is taken when something fails
- Not when it starts to deviate
This shift is not immediately visible, but it defines whether operations remain stable or become increasingly unpredictable.
Anticipation is not about doing more, but doing it differently
It is not about increasing interventions, but improving them.
Understanding the real condition of the engine and tracking its evolution over time allows decisions to be made before failures become evident.
At this stage, the goal is not just to keep the engine running, but to protect its availability.
The stage that defines the engine’s future
The post-warranty period is often the most decisive phase in an engine’s lifecycle.
It determines whether the engine:
- Remains stable over time
- Or starts accumulating issues
Not because of a single event, but because of how it is managed from that point forward.
Is your engine reaching the end of its warranty or already out of it?
Evaluating its condition at this stage is key to avoiding unexpected failures and maintaining control over performance.
